Fraction Calculator vs Modulo Calculator

To add fractions, find a common denominator, convert both fractions, then add the numerators. Example: 1/3 + 1/4 — the common denominator is 12, so you get 4/12 + 3/12 = 7/12. If adding mixed numbers, convert to improper fractions first, then add.

Find the Greatest Common Divisor (GCD) of the numerator and denominator, then divide both by it. For 12/18: the GCD is 6, so 12÷6 = 2 and 18÷6 = 3, giving simplified fraction 2/3. A fraction is fully simplified when the only common factor is 1.

Modulo (mod) is the remainder after division. For example, 17 mod 5 = 2 because 17 ÷ 5 = 3 remainder 2. The modulo operation gives you what's left over.

Modulo is used in programming (array wrapping, hash functions), cryptography, clock arithmetic (12-hour time), determining odd/even numbers (n mod 2), and cyclic patterns.
