If your payday lands on a bank holiday or a weekend, direct deposit cannot settle that day, so most employers pay you on the business day before. Between November 2026 and December 2027 the dates that catch the most people are Thanksgiving on Thursday, November 26, 2026, Christmas on Friday, December 25, 2026, and New Year's Day on Friday, January 1, 2027. A worker paid every other Friday will usually see exactly one of those holidays move their deposit, while semi-monthly and monthly schedules shift far more often because their dates fall on weekends. Enter your most recent payday above and the calculator lists every affected payday in that window with the date you should expect the money.
What Happens on Each Pay Schedule
Biweekly Friday workers fall into one of two groups, and each group hits exactly one holiday in this window. If your paydays include October 2, 2026, your schedule lands on Christmas Day, so the December 25, 2026 deposit moves to Thursday, December 24. If your paydays include October 9, 2026, your schedule lands on New Year's Day instead, so the January 1, 2027 deposit moves to Thursday, December 31, 2026, which also pulls that paycheck into the 2026 tax year on many pay stubs.
Weekly Friday workers hit both, since they are paid every Friday: December 25, 2026 moves to December 24 and January 1, 2027 moves to December 31. Biweekly Thursday workers are the group most affected by Thanksgiving. A schedule that includes Thursday, October 1, 2026 sees November 26, 2026 move to Wednesday, November 25, then Veterans Day on Thursday, November 11, 2027 move to November 10, and Thanksgiving on November 25, 2027 move to November 24.
