Social Security does not pay everyone on the same day. Your payment date in 2027 depends on the day of the month you were born, and a smaller group is paid on the 3rd regardless of birth date. The Social Security Administration (SSA) publishes the rules each year as the Schedule of Social Security Benefit Payments (Publication No. 05-10031), and the calculator above applies the 2027 edition to your birth day and returns all twelve payment dates. Every date it produces was checked against that official 2027 calendar, so you can plan rent, bills and savings around the exact day money arrives.
When a Payment Date Falls on a Weekend or Holiday
SSA's published calendar shows payments moved to the business day before when the scheduled day is a Saturday, Sunday or federal holiday. This matters most for the 3rd and the 1st, because they are fixed calendar dates that land on weekends often. The 2027 calendar shows several examples. April 3 is a Saturday, so the April payment for people paid on the 3rd arrives Friday, April 2. July 3 is also a Saturday, so July's payment arrives Friday, July 2. October 3 is a Sunday, so October's payment arrives Friday, October 1.
January 2027 is the most unusual month. January 3 is a Sunday and January 1 is a federal holiday, so the payment moves back past the weekend and the holiday to Thursday, December 31, 2026. The same thing happens to SSI. SSA's 2026 calendar shows December 31 as the payment date for January 2027, so anyone paid on the 3rd or the 1st should expect their January money before New Year's Day. SSI is also paid early in two other months: May's SSI arrives Friday, April 30, and August's arrives Friday, July 30, because the 1st of each month is a weekend. The December 2027 calendar even shows SSI for January 2028 arriving Thursday, December 30, 2027.
